  When will this “stability issues”, which are actually the main behavior of this server, be fixed?
  And will there be a stable, at least a bit less unstable server running, sometime?

  DOWN yesterday evening! And this evening too?!?
  I understand this service is free, but even free services have to offer decent stability.

  It is good idea to use two JABBER servers. I use JABBER.NO and LAVABIT.COM, both with the same rooster, so if one is down, the second is working good. I have no situation when both servers failed.

  Lavabit has a jabber server running? nice

  The thing is, dear Stian and Carl, you can either run

  1) a public jabber server -> that’s nice and honorably.
  2) run no jabber server -> that’s ok, too, there are many out there.

  But the worst thing to offer, is a unstable server.
  That’s pretty evil dudes, one of the most annoying things i could think of.
  And the “two or more servers” alternate should not be the normal way of using xmpp.

  If you just want to have fun on a privat sysadmin-playground for you, your family and friends, no one would bother you for that of course, too, but then don’t set it public. o_O

  So fix it or stop it, or maybe hand it out to some people with more time.
  I guess you have a life out there and can’t provide 24/7 availability for this project and users without enduring patience.

  Thxalot for the service, your work and the efforts so long and good luck in getting it stable, but i will have to quit the server now.

  I use two JIDs at the same time. IT’S ONLY A MATTER OF HABIT. I will say that my friends have bigger problem than me because they have my two JIDs on their rooster and a lot of them don’t understand why.

  I will stay with JABER.NO and hope this situatinon won’t take long.

  Gentlemen, we are very sorry about this, but this is just a hobby project

  The trouble we are facing are due to the amount of users we currently have and the instability will be fixed. To fix it we have to migrate to a new server which we are currently requesting from our friends at Interhost.

  I have now put in place scripts to monitor the service closely, they should also report if an error occurs and restart the service within 2 minutes. This should at least make sure any downtime will be shortlived.

  Nice to hear. Better monitoring and faster restart seem like two steps in the right direction.

  I use the ICQ transport with my Google Talk account.
  It worked fine for a few months. But since 2 days I only get a “remote-server-not-found” in Gajim for the ICQ transport.

  Is Google Talk blocked for the ICQ transport? To the AIM and MSN transport I get a connection…

  The transports keep causing problems so I do not officially support them. Also I try to not serve these to non-jabber.no users. We might support these when the Spectrum transports work well.

  Takk for det, ja det har nå fungert mye bedre. Gjenstår noen større oppgraderinger men det blir senere.
