The SSL certificate has expired and we are in the process of getting a new one in place. Sadly this is taking some time due to manual verification and actions on my side.
The lateness of this fix is a direct result of a mildly overworked sys-admin, very sorry about this! 🙂
We have upgraded to ejabberd 2.1.0, albeit a longer downtime window than expected. In any case the upgrade has been done and we are now running on the newest version of ejabberd. There is some new possibilities in this version that we will explore and maybe use to extend the service.
We had a bit of a problem with database conversion that we need to address, but I have configured a workaround that should work stable. When we fix this permanently there will be another bit of downtime I am afraid.
The Spectrum transports are now running stable the last couple of days. For some time we had some unstable code in committed by the developers. This has now been rolled back and things seems to be more stable and mature. Soon this will become the preferred transport solution for Jabber Norway and the old transports will be shut down.
TDC Song which is the hosting centre this server is placed in had downtime on the routing today because of a router upgrade that went terribly wrong. This resulted in downtime all of today since last night.
Very sorry about trouble because of this.
Some of you might have noticed that we have some new transports in the service discovery list. These will be unstable and is not reccomended for daily use yet. We have just tested the Facebook transport briefly (seems to work ok), but rumors say that the others should also work fine.

I have just added the latest CVS version of the Yahoo transport and it seems to be working from my initial tests. Please have a look at it and report findings. To make it work I removed all the old registrations on it, so you woul have to re-register the transport on your account.
This is a little beta, so no guarantees! 😀
Finally we found the error and now the service is running again. Since we changed server there might be some small issues still, like the transports that will come soon.

We are currently working to get the service up and running but we do not know what is causing the problems. Will post new information as soon as the service is working again.
As the Ubuntu version we are running has expired on support we need to upgrade. Last time weÃÂ upgraded we had lost of problems so we will install a new installation and reconfigure all services and do a switchover. When the new server is ready we will announce the switch.
We have also been updating the web page to make it more current, and plus the new version of WordPress has excellent plugins for multilanuage content which I have installed. During this phase some web services might not work.
Alot happened when we started to write about Aplle and Mac when they came with iChat and the iChat server based on Jabber/XMPP. Suddenly Google started to send lots of Mac users our way and many of them (you!) registered and became Jabber Norway users.
In any case, happy birthday to us! 🙂 Hope many will continue to use and support our service, and have a nice summer!
I found this post on the jdev mailinglist about a new project called MUCKl that gives web users access to a chatroom without having a user on the server. I have installed it on this server and invite you to test it but since we have not tested it very much I cannot guarantee that it works. Though, all tests so far has worked fine 🙂
