Upgraded to Ejabberd 2.1.0

We have upgraded to ejabberd 2.1.0, albeit a longer downtime window than expected. In any case the upgrade has been done and we are now running on the newest version of ejabberd. There is some new possibilities in this version that we will explore and maybe use to extend the service.

We had a bit of a problem with database conversion that we need to address, but I have configured a workaround that should work stable. When we fix this permanently there will be another bit of downtime I am afraid.

The Spectrum transports are now running stable the last couple of days. For some time we had some unstable code in committed by the developers. This has now been rolled back and things seems to be more stable and mature. Soon this will become the preferred transport solution for Jabber Norway and the old transports will be shut down.

  1. it’s strange, but after update service discovery is not working… I thought that server is down totally, but MSN transport(spectrum) works

  2. I have been unable to contact anyone who has a Google account for a few days. It might be the case that this is somehow connected to the server-upgrade. Has anyone else any problems with their contacts on Google?
Other XMPP-providers like web.de do not have this problem. So I suspect that jabber.no is at fault.

  3. similarly here, users with google accounts are not able to send me messages, while i receive their messages just fine. They get a 501 error instead… Also it seems that jabber.no is to blame since e.g. jabber.ru still works fine

  4. Hello,
Service discovery doesn’t work (again?). But then directly use e.g. irc.jabber.no or icq.jabber.no transports then it appears in the list.

  5. Hello,

Seems like I don’t get to join/use any transporters. I seem to find them by using direct url (msn.jabber.no), but cannot add any account to it. It’s the same with irc.jabber.no

  6. The service discovery is broken, but it is possible to get the address for the spectrum transports so they can be used directly ( i specifically would like to try the spectrum MSN transport )
