PyICQ-t upgraded to 0.7a

It has been a few quiet days not, at least here, but that is because of the fact that I actually have a dayjob too 🙂 But at least I got time last night to upgrade the PyICQ-t transport to the latest version. Hope this resolves issues if any!

Also I can inform that towards the end of the month we will change IP addresses and we will then have some downtime. Will get back to this when we decide on a  time to do this.

Ejabberd on Jabber.org

This morning I got a mail from the XMPP.net mailinglist informing that jabber.org has upgraded its server to use ejabberd. So far they have been using the stable version of  jabberd but since they have not had a release in a long time, ejabberd har gone far beyond in functionality. Even if jabberd has a 2.0 development project many has migrated to ejabberd, just like we did on Jabber Norway around a year ago 😉

We congratulate jabber.org with the upgrade, and ejabberd for getting their software onto the largest jabber server on the Internet!

SSL / TLS Certificate from GeoTrust

Now we have got a trusted SSL certificate for the HTTPS and TLS negotiation of the Jabber service and the web page. The certificates was donated from Steve Waite at GeoTrust, thank you very much 🙂

GeoTrust logoWhat this means to you users is that we no longer get a self-signed certificate error in web browsers or Jabber clients and a higher grade of security. Especially Psi I know had this message, and I have now tested with the new certificate and it is in the trusted CA list of Psi.

Online Chatroom

I found this post on the jdev mailinglist about a new project called MUCKl that gives web users access to a chatroom without having a user on the server. I have installed it on this server and invite you to test it but since we have not tested it very much I cannot guarantee that it works. Though, all tests so far has worked fine 🙂

Choose Online Chatroom in the menu to test.

ICQ Transport Upgraded

I have upgraded the ICQ transport to version 0.7, almost a year has passed since the last update so its very nice to get an update. Alot has changed since the last update but the most important for the users is support for Avatar images and improved Unicode support. For more information about whats changed see this information.

I havent tested the transport a whole lot since I no longer have many ICQ contacts, but my ICQ number is 1458759 so just contact me and we can test 🙂
